New Motor Vehicle Sales, Total vehicles - Short term

• Trend - The November 2008 trend estimate for new motor vehicle sales (77 189) decreased 1.8% when compared with October 2008. The trend estimate has decreased for the eleventh consecutive month. When compared with November 2007 the trend estimate decreased by 14.8%.
• Seasonally adjusted - The November 2008 estimate for total sales of new motor vehicles (75 592) decreased by 5.2% compared with October 2008.

• Trend - When comparing November 2008 with October 2008, trend estimates decreased for all vehicle types, with sports utility vehicles decreasing by 2.6%, passenger vehicles, 2.1% and other vehicles, 0.4%. When compared with the same period 12 months ago all vehicles decreased, sports utility vehicles by 22.4%, passenger vehicles by 15.1%, and other vehicles by 6.7%.
• Seasonally adjusted - When comparing November 2008 with October 2008, sports utility vehicles decreased by 5.5%, passenger vehicles by 3.3% and other vehicles by 9.8%.

• Trend - When comparing November 2008 to October 2008, all of the states and territories showed decreases in the trend estimate of total vehicle sales. The largest decreases were in Victoria, 2.4% and Tasmania, 2.0%.
• Seasonally adjusted - When comparing November 2008 to October 2008, two of the states showed increases in total vehicle sales, Tasmania, 2.6% and Northern Territory, 2.2%. The largest decreases were in Western Australia with a decrease of 8.1% Victoria, 6.7% and Queensland, 6.5%.
